Born in Brisbane Queensland Australia where he completed his primary and high school education, Shane enlisted in the Australian navy at fifteen years of age, serving nine years on eighteen ships and bases and deploying overseas on four occasions.

​

It was during those first stages of his enlistment he took up pen and paper and began to journal his experiences, allowing a much-needed avenue of expressing and downloading his emotions without ridicule.

On the completion of his military service Shane entered a world that he had not seen since enlisting at fifteen years of age and the transition to civilian life was not without its difficulties.

In 2009 he released three coffee table books of poetry and in 2010 published the hardcover book 'The Poet' containing 121 poems. In 2024 he published a revised edition of 'The Poet' and in 2025 published 'Infinite Destinies'.

​

Manuscripts in the preparation stages include an illustrated book of poetry '1976' in collaboration with a Queensland Sunshine Coast artist and a memoir of his experiences as a child in the full-time Australian navy as well as a book of love 'Whispered words of love'.

Shane now lives and writes on a small island off the east coast of Australia.
